The ‘Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025’ has emerged as a transformative platform, empowering young individuals with a voice in political and policy-making processes. Reimagined this year, the initiative aims to connect the youth with governance and encourage deep discussions on crucial national issues.
For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the District Nodal Rounds were conducted in person, marking a significant milestone in the history of the event. Over 75,000 enthusiastic young participants from all states and Union Territories submitted video entries, demonstrating their passion for governance and nation-building. The entire selection process was fully digital and conducted through the ‘MY Bharat portal’, highlighting the tech-savvy and engaged nature of today’s youth.
The Youth Parliament was organized in three stages – district nodal rounds, state rounds, and the final national round.
- District Round: Discussions on ONOE were held in 300 district nodes, reaching every town and village across the country. Candidates qualified for this round by submitting a one-minute video on the topic, “What does Viksit Bharat mean to you?” The enthusiastic participation and extensive media coverage of this round highlighted the youth’s commitment to national conversations.
- State Round: In a historic step, state rounds were conducted in over 15 state Assemblies and prominent government buildings. These sessions were presided over by Speakers and Governors of various states, offering young participants a rare opportunity to directly engage with political leadership. This initiative played a crucial role in bridging the gap between youth and governance, providing valuable insights into India’s political process.
The National Round will offer participants multiple enriching experiences, including a Masterclass by a senior Member of Parliament. This session will equip young leaders with essential oratory skills and leadership techniques. Additionally, they will get firsthand exposure to governance by attending sessions in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The finalists will also visit the Prime Minister’s Museum (PM Sangrahalaya), where they will gain insights into India’s political evolution and the stories of its leadership.
More than just a programme, the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament is a movement aimed at fostering a new era of youth awareness and engagement in national development. The ideas and discussions generated at this event will extend beyond Parliament’s halls, inspiring a new wave of participation across the country.
