Senapati, August 20: The Economics Department of St. Xavier College, Senapati, on Wednesday organised a workshop on tourism market with a special focus on Senapati district. The programme was held on the college premises at 11.30 a.m.
The programme was graced by Sir Traole Rai, President of Hills Eco Adventure Tourism, Manipur (HEAT-M), as the resource person. The event was also attended by Rev. Fr. Nepuni William, Principal of St. Xavier College, faculty members, students along with pass-out students of the 6th semester.
During the session, Traole Rai highlighted the importance of developing the tourism market in a rural district like Senapati. He also underlined the challenges facing the sector, including poor connectivity and infrastructure, lack of quality accommodation, and low promotion of tourist spots.
Emphasising the need for solutions, he suggested improving accessibility, promoting eco-tourism, and adopting digital marketing as key steps to boost Senapati’s tourism potential.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the 5th-semester students, followed by a spiritual song. The workshop enabled both students and teachers to gain a deeper understanding of the current tourism scenario and the measures required to strengthen the tourism market in the district.
