SENAPATI, Nov 26: In the run-up to the Border Security Force’s Diamond Jubilee and the 61st BSF Rising Day, the 105 Battalion BSF hosted a vibrant and meaningful painting competition at Sprouting Oak Academy Senapati, bringing together nearly 80 to 90 enthusiastic schoolchildren. The event turned into a colourful celebration of patriotism, creativity, and youthful imagination—each child interpreting the theme “Nation First” in their own unique way.
Organised under the leadership of Commandant Sh. Himanshu Chowdhury, the programme aimed to instil a strong sense of national pride, discipline, and civic responsibility among the younger generation. The competition not only encouraged artistic expression but also served as a platform for children to reflect on themes such as national security, border guardianship, environmental conservation, and the BSF’s role in nation-building.
A special attraction of the day was the “Know Your BSF” weapon and equipment display held at TAC Headquarters, IIIT Campus, Kangpokpi. The showcase featured an impressive display of BSF weapons, protective gear, communication equipment, and operational tools used by the Force during border patrols and internal security duties. Students and visitors were able to get a close look at how BSF in challenging terrains and hostile environments, deepening their understanding of the Force’s commitment and sacrifice.

The children’s artwork revealed striking insight and emotion. Many drawings highlighted the National Flag being safeguarded by soldiers, symbolising strength and unity. Others paid homage to freedom fighters, women holding the Tricolour, and powerful visions of India’s resilience. Some children expressed their admiration by sketching Commandant Himanshu Chowdhury, portraying him as a symbol of leadership and service. Teachers shared that the theme encouraged heartfelt classroom discussions about national identity and sacrifice, which were beautifully reflected in the artwork.
The 105 Battalion expressed heartfelt appreciation to the school, faculty, and parents for their support in motivating the young participants. The programme forms a part of the BSF’s broader outreach as it prepares to mark 60 years of unwavering service to the nation.
