NEW DELHI, Nov 16: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Solomona alias Hminga alias Lalmithanga, a Mizoram resident, for his role in trafficking illegal arms and ammunition to Manipur and other states. The chargesheet was presented to the NIA special court on Thursday.
The case against Solomona and others, including Lalngaihawma and Lalmuanawma, was filed by the NIA on December 26, 2023, after intelligence reports indicated that some entities based in Mizoram were part of a syndicate involved in smuggling arms, ammunition, and explosives across the northeastern region.
The NIA’s investigation revealed that Solomona, along with his associates, participated in a conspiracy to procure and supply weapons and explosives to Myanmar, which were then funneled into Manipur. These materials were intended for use in violent acts aimed at fostering hostility between various groups in the region.
Solomona was found to be in possession of prohibited arms and ammunition without a license. He also played a role in raising funds to support the illegal operations, purchasing weapons and ammunition for unlawful and terrorist activities in northeastern states, as per the NIA findings.
