New Delhi, July 21: In a fiery exchange during the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused the Centre of mishandling the NEET-UG paper leak issue. He expressed grave concerns about the integrity of India’s education system, accusing the government of failing millions of anxious students.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi criticized the government, stating, “There is a very serious problem in the country’s education system. Millions of students are deeply concerned and convinced that the Indian examination system is fraudulent.”
In response, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan staunchly defended the government’s stance, highlighting that the National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting NEET-UG, was established during the UPA government’s tenure. Pradhan emphasized, “A lie will not become truth just by shouting. The Leader of Opposition’s remarks on our examination system are highly condemnable.”
The debate intensified as Rahul Gandhi alleged widespread corruption, asserting, “Many believe that the wealthy can manipulate the Indian examination system. This sentiment is echoed by opposition parties across the country.”
Supporting for Gandhi’s stance, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the government’s handling of the NEET issue, predicting a record of paper leaks under the current administration. “As long as Dharmendra Pradhan remains the Education Minister, students will not receive justice,” Akhilesh Yadav declared.
Minister Pradhan countered these claims by highlighting the NTA’s track record over the past seven years. “During more than 240 exams conducted by NTA, involving over 5 crore applicants, there have been no proven instances of leaks,” he clarified. “The matter is under the scrutiny of the Supreme Court, with due process being followed.”
The NEET-UG controversy has gripped the Parliament, with both sides vehemently arguing their positions amidst the backdrop of the Budget Session, set to span 22 days with 16 sittings. As tensions escalate, the debate on the integrity of India’s education system promises to remain a focal point of discussion in the coming days.
