Imphal: A total of 81 confirmed Dengue cases have been reported across Manipur. Among these, Imphal West has 29 cases, Imphal East has 20, Thoubal has 13, Bishnupur has nine, Chandel has three, Ukhrul has one, Kakching has five, and Kangpokpi has one case.
Health and Family Welfare and IPR Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh announced these figures on Tuesday during a press briefing at the State Health Society, National Health Mission, Lamphelpat.
Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of community and individual participation in combating Dengue. He highlighted that awareness campaigns will play a crucial role in controlling the spread of the disease.
“The government is committed to controlling Dengue, but we all share the responsibility of spreading awareness on prevention methods,” the minister stated.
The Health Department, in collaboration with other agencies, has implemented various measures to contain the spread of Dengue. These measures include fogging in areas where Dengue cases have been detected, and resource reduction efforts managed by ASHA workers and Helpers under the State Malaria Department’s supervision.
Awareness programs are being conducted across multiple platforms, including press, electronic media, and social media, to educate the public on preventive measures.
Dr. Singh pointed out that overhead tanks, ground water storage tanks, and septic tanks are common breeding sites for the Aedes mosquito, which transmits Dengue. He advised residents to regularly check and eliminate stagnant water in and around their homes, as this is a primary breeding ground for the mosquitoes.
Director of Health Services Manipur, Dr. O. Sanahanbi Devi, State Mission Director Dr. M. Dinesh Singh, and other Health Department and NHM Manipur officials were also present at the event.
