Aizawl: Major Laldingngheta, hailing from Bungkawn Vengthar in Aizawl, has been awarded the esteemed Sena Medal (Gallantry) for his remarkable bravery during a counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir on October 21, 2023.
Leading his Combat Action Team, Major Laldingngheta engaged in a fierce gunfight with terrorists attempting to infiltrate the Indian border. Despite sustaining severe injuries from a grenade explosion and gunfire, he continued to lead his team, ultimately neutralizing two terrorists and preventing a significant threat to national security.
After the intense encounter, Major Laldingngheta was airlifted for emergency treatment, first to 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar and later to the Army Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi.
The Sena Medal (Gallantry) is one of India’s highest military honors, recognizing acts of exceptional courage. Major Laldingngheta’s actions during this operation highlight his unwavering commitment and bravery in the face of danger, serving as a shining example of military excellence.
