The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over Northeast India, valid through August 25th. The IMD said that under the influence of a low-pressure area over central parts of Bangladesh, very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected over Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura.

In particular, the IMD Imphal Centre has issued an orange alert for eight districts in Manipur on August 22. These districts includes Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul, Jiribam, Noney, Chandel, Churachandpur, and Pherzawl, which are expected to face substantial rainfall, potentially resulting in severe weather conditions.
