NewDelhi, Sept 11: At a significant event held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, President Droupadi Murmu honored 15 nursing professionals with the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2024. This prestigious award, established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 1973, acknowledges exceptional dedication and service in the nursing profession.
Among the awardees, several nurses from Northeast India were prominently recognized, highlighting the region’s significant contributions to the healthcare sector:
- Brahmacharimayum Amusana Devi (Manipur) – LHV
- Iken Lollen (Arunachal Pradesh) – ANM
- Januka Pandey (Sikkim) – ANM
- H. Mankimi (Mizoram) – Nurse
These awardees were celebrated for their outstanding work in various healthcare settings, from hospitals to community health programs, showcasing the vital role of Northeast India in the nation’s healthcare system.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, and Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, were also present. Nadda praised the recipients, noting that “nurses are the backbone of the healthcare sector” and highlighting the inspiring contributions of those from the Northeast.
Each awardee received a Certificate of Merit, a medal, and a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000. The recognition of Northeast nurses underscores the region’s crucial role in advancing healthcare standards and emphasizes the growing impact of its professionals on the national stage.
