Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal surrendered to Tihar Jail on Sunday as his interim bail, granted for campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections, came to an end. The Supreme Court had allowed him temporary freedom on May 10, but with the court’s decision on his plea for extended bail on medical grounds postponed until June 5, Kejriwal had no choice but to return to jail.

Before heading to Tihar, Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal, paid a visit to Rajghat along with Delhi ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Kailash Gahlot, and other AAP leaders. This visit held significant emotional value as Kejriwal sought strength and inspiration from the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi.

The day before his return to jail, Kejriwal was busy with back-to-back meetings. He first gathered with the AAP’s Political Affairs Committee at his residence, where he urged unity among party members during his absence. Later, he attended an important INDIA bloc meeting at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s home. Key leaders of AAP were present at these discussions, reinforcing the party’s strategies and commitments.

In a move to ensure seamless governance, it was decided that Kejriwal would continue to serve as the Chief Minister of Delhi. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, will play a crucial role in relaying his messages to party leaders, volunteers, and the people of Delhi, ensuring that his vision and directives are followed during his time away.

This period marks another chapter in Kejriwal’s political journey, highlighting his resilience and the support of his party and family as he faces this challenge.
