Aizawl: A startup from Mizoram, Tui Bon Natural, which created the popular Northeastern beverage brand ‘Local All Natural Soda’, has successfully raised $1.25 million in pre-seed funding. This marks a historic achievement as Mizoram’s first startup to secure equity financing.
Founded by Zomawii Khiangte and Felipe Rodriguez, Tui Bon’s Local All Natural Soda offers craft sodas made from local fruits like pomelo, roselle, orange, and dragonfruit found in Northeast India. Zomawii and Felipe, who left their careers in New York to build the brand, aim to celebrate the natural flavors of Mizoram and support local farmers.
Local All Natural Soda has become a prominent beverage partner for major music festivals across the Northeast. With this new funding, the company plans to expand its reach to health and eco-conscious customers in cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune. The funds will also be used to increase production, introduce new flavors, and expand distribution channels.
Zomawii expresses excitement about sharing the unique flavors of Northeast India with consumers worldwide. The funding was facilitated by Alsisar Impact, a leading incubator in the North-East and Himalayan region, and attracted investors like Shoba Narayan, Narayan Ramachandran, Aditya Sheth, and Sonali Mehta-Rao.
