Delhi: In a distressing turn of events, four female friends from Nagaland in Delhi booked an Uber ride to their destination, only to be confronted with a harrowing ordeal at the hands of their driver. According to the victim’s statement, the driver allegedly touched her thigh during the journey, prompting her to question his actions. In response, the driver purportedly claimed it was an inadvertent mistake while shifting gears, a defense swiftly refuted by the passenger who asserted her knowledge of driving and the mechanics involved.

However, the situation took a chilling turn as the driver reportedly proceeded to commit a lewd act while behind the wheel, an act surreptitiously captured on camera by one of the passengers. In the ensuing confrontation, the driver allegedly veered the vehicle off-course, threatening to take the passengers to an undisclosed location unless the incriminating footage was deleted.

Undaunted by the driver’s intimidation tactics, the brave passengers resisted, steadfastly refusing to comply with his demands. Ultimately, the driver relented, instructing the passengers to get off from the vehicle. Left shocked and furious  and distressed by the traumatic encounter, the young women were compelled to navigate their way home on foot, underscoring the alarming vulnerability faced by passengers, particularly women, when utilizing ride-hailing services.

As the shocking incident reverberates across the city, authorities are urged to swiftly investigate the matter and ensure that justice is served. The safety and security of passengers must remain paramount, with stringent measures implemented to prevent such reprehensible acts from recurring.
