Kohima, Nagaland – The Global Naga Forum (GNF) expresses deep concern over the escalating tensions surrounding the disputed Kezoltsa area between the Southern Angami and Mao communities. While refraining from passing judgment on the case’s merits, GNF acknowledges the longstanding negotiations and discussions involving leaders and elders from both communities.
In a public appeal issued today, GNF urges all parties involved to exercise utmost caution and demonstrate compassion towards one another. It emphasizes the shared ancestral homeland of all Nagas and the inherent responsibility to safeguard it collectively for the common good.
Highlighting historical adversities faced by the Naga people and the ongoing efforts to foster unity, GNF calls upon the Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) to withdraw the Quit Notice and urges the Mao Council to ensure the withdrawal of security forces from the disputed area promptly.
Furthermore, GNF encourages both organizations to explore innovative strategies for dispute resolution, emphasizing patience and mutual care for the greater good.
The appeal extends to Nagas worldwide, urging them to prioritize peace and unity by reflecting on shared history and aspirations. GNF underscores the importance of dialogue and understanding in overcoming immediate conflicts and advancing towards lasting reconciliation.
In concluding the appeal, GNF reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at fostering unity and prosperity within the Naga community.
We as a modern human have lost our morale and are always finding ways to argue and create disputes. Too many disputes among the naga tribes regarding land boundaries. Sad to see.
