Let me tell you my story

In the summer of ’17, as I turned the last page of my master’s degree, a dream that had been simmering since my high school days began to boil over. I was fascinated by the limitless expanse of the internet, an appeal THAT GREW IN THE MOST UNLIKELY OF PLACES.

Located 80 kilometers from the district headquarters of Senapati, my hometown lacked what many consider basic: electricity and a reliable internet connection. Yet, these hurdles only fueled my passion for technology. Imagine trekking 1.5 kilometers solo, chasing a fleeting 2G signal from Benreu, a village under the Peren District, just to glimpse the online world.

In college, I often daydreamed about becoming a blogger and writer. I was casually experimenting with free website tools.

Following my postgraduate studies, I’ve chosen to focus on building my own online project, committing all my energy to this fresh endeavor.

2018 brought a crossroads; I needed funds to breathe life into my vision. A close friend’s generosity was my lifeline, securing a domain and hosting space. I was posting articles on a timely basis. Yet, after 70 posts, I started running out of ideas, and so pivoted to technical tutorials. Alas, this too was short-lived.

One September morning, seeing the political rivalry between Donald Trump and CNN(a news outlet), I wondered if I could get a meme on it. But failing to do so, a though struck me, “Why not build it?” Have a meme social site where you find memes and memes only! My heart raced with the prospect, and after days of contemplation, I reached out to a brother’s friend who was working as a backend developer. His skepticism mirrored my own fears, yet it didn’t extinguish the fire within.

Despite the odds, I chose to chase the dream. Social media, a rollercoaster of emotions, lacked a niche for pure joy. “Where Humour Finds its Tribe,” our tagline, would be the beacon for this new meme sanctuary.

The domain was mine since November ’18, but the site lay dormant, as I honed my server skills. Then, disaster struck—a misclick, and the database was gone. I had to start from the beginning.

With dreams in my pocket and hope as my compass, I went to Delhi’s vibrant chaos. Searching for a part-time job and my meme haven, I was a man on a mission. Yet, even the brightest flames can flicker; nine months in, exhaustion crept in, and I found myself retreating home, as my digital dream was not taking any significant progress.

But you can’t keep a good dream down. By 2021, we had our first Android app, a key that unlocked faster access to our world of memes. It was still our little secret, a niche app cradled by a handful of early believers who weren’t yet regulars. To spark the fire of community, we introduced rewards—points for engagement, for sharing the laughter with friends and family.

Now, fast forward to today, and behold the memolution! We have hundreds of meme enthusiasts, each one a beacon of joy, spreading chuckles and grins across the globe. Our platform, once a fledgling idea, now soars on the wings of shared humor, proving that sometimes, the wildest dreams do take flight.
