In a significant effort to enhance reporting on sensitive issues, a special program was held to sensitize journalists on rights-based reporting of sexual abuse and human trafficking. The event saw the participation of journalists and media personnel from Community Media and Television (CMTV NE India), Times of Senapati, and Hills Hornbill Express.
The interaction program was hosted by A. Wungreiso Shangh, a program officer at Nirmana, with notable attendees including Kaisungbou, Additional SP of Senapati, Mrs. Koshia Mao, a Prosecutor at the District Session Court in Senapati, and Peter Rangnamai, Director of Maneda House, a Senapati-based NGO. Organized by Nirmana under the aegis of MUKTI, an anti-child trafficking project in Manipur, the program aimed to spread awareness about rights-based cases, particularly sexual abuse and human trafficking.
The purpose of the interaction was to encourage the public to speak out against these issues and not hesitate to seek help from authorities and NGOs. The session was the first of its kind in Senapati and provided participants with a constructive and fruitful experience. The event concluded with a delicious dinner, leaving attendees both informed and engaged.
