The Poumai Naga Union (PNU) held its third assembly on May 31, 2024, at the Sanyi Dahrii Memorial Sports Complex in Khabung Karong. The assembly, chaired by Shri Sh. Dany, Speaker of the Assembly-PNU, was attended by 520 members, including Union Executives, Advisors, Frontal Organizations, Village Chairmen and Secretaries, Headmen, the Union Election Committee of 2024, Union Court Members, political and religious leaders, social activists, and well-wishers.
During the assembly, the following key resolutions were unanimously passed:
Reaffirmation of Previous Resolutions: The assembly reaffirmed the implementation of previous resolutions concerning Tingsong Centre, Tingsong Khunou, and Thiwa Village.
Rejection of Indictment Order: After thoroughly examining the indictment order dated May 20, 2024, served to 11 Poumai Naga leaders, the PNU resolved to defend and secure the Poumai people against any threats to their existence, well-being, and freedom. The PNU declared zero tolerance for external interference and unanimously rejected the indictment order.
Demand for Withdrawal of Indictment Order: The assembly resolved to request the withdrawal of the indictment order within 15 days from May 31, 2024. Failure to comply may compel the PNU to initiate further actions, including a non-cooperation movement to safeguard their vital interests.
Support for Indicted Leaders: The PNU resolved that the Poumai leaders named in the indictment order shall not resign from their positions and will continue to fulfill their mandated roles.
Actions Against Contravention: The assembly declared the following individuals to have acted against approved resolutions:
- Ng. Lohro (Tunggam Afii)
- M Joyson Mazamo (Khondei Shimphung)
- KS Paul Leo (Oinam)
- ML Markson (Lail)
- RK Holison (Khamsom)
- Kh Sapunii (Phuba Khuman)
Nullification of Recommendation Letter: The PNU nullified the recommendation letter issued to Ng. Lohro for the presidency of UNC, debarring him from representing the PNU or holding any related position.
Dissociation from Organizations: The assembly resolved that the Poumai community will dissociate from the United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women’s Union, Manipur (NWUM), and Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR).
Additionally, Shri Sh. Dany administered the oath of secrecy to the newly inducted Court Chairman, V. Dukhu from Phuba Thapham Village, and Court Registrar, R. S. Ngaopunii from Purul Atongba Village.
The PNU remains dedicated to protecting the rights and interests of the Poumai Naga community and ensuring their well-being and freedom.
