In a significant breakthrough, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Sarmah, apprehended four individuals involved in the illicit narcotics trade from Manipur to Assam. The operation, conducted in Guwahati, resulted in the seizure of 27 grams of heroin and the uncovering of crucial financial and supply chain details.
The arrested individuals have been identified as S Changboi Haokip (38), Letminlal Lhungding (40), Md Shahadat (19), and Rajaur Rafi (24). Their capture is expected to provide valuable insights into the operations of the narcotics smuggling ring, aiding in future crackdowns on illegal trade activities.
The operation underscores ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking across state borders, highlighting collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies to maintain security and curb criminal activities.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation today, a combined team including CDO Unit Kakching, Arong-PS team, and a platoon of A-126 Battalion BSF conducted a thorough Cordon and Search Operation at Laphupat Tera area. Led by Additional SP Binoy Chongtham and supervised by Superintendent of Police Thokchom Vikramjit Singh, the operation involved searching 40 houses and verifying 120 individuals. However, no arrests or recoveries were reported during the operation.
