In a tragic incident today, the Dibrugarh Express (Train No. 15904) derailed in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, resulting in at least four fatalities and leaving approximately 20 others injured. The accident occurred between Jhilahi and Gosai Dihwa railway stations around 2:37 PM, causing chaos and prompting swift rescue efforts from railway and local authorities.
The train, which was en route from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh, faced a derailment that affected 15 bogies, including AC coaches. Reports indicate that the derailment left some passengers trapped inside the overturned coaches, necessitating urgent rescue operations.
Railway authorities promptly responded upon receiving news of the accident. North Eastern Railway CPRO Pankaj Singh informed that a Railways medical van had arrived at the scene and rescue operations were underway. Helpline numbers were immediately made available.

In a coordinated response, the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s office affirmed that they were closely monitoring the situation, as many passengers on the train were reportedly from Assam. The government of Assam pledged to collaborate with Uttar Pradesh authorities to provide necessary support and assistance to those affected by the derailment.
