IMPHAL: In a series of targeted operations across Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Bishnupur districts, combined security forces have successfully seized a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from the hideouts of armed groups. The operations, conducted within the past 24 hours, were aimed at disrupting illicit activities and ensuring public safety in the region, authorities reported on Tuesday.
Details of Recovered Items:
1. Kangpokpi District:
– At L Phaijang village, a joint team comprising Kangpokpi district police, 22 Assam Rifles, and 30 Assam Rifles recovered:
– One 7.62mm Sniper Rifle with a magazine and eight live rounds.
– One .22 Rifle with a magazine.
– An improvised projectile launcher and five projectiles.
– One hand grenade, posing significant public safety concern.
– Ten live rounds of AK ammunition with a magazine.
– Two tube launchers, a telescopic sight, and an LMG Bipod.
– One Baofeng radio set with antenna and battery.
2. Bishnupur District:
– At Phougakchao Ikhai, security forces recovered:
– One 9 mm Carbine Machine Gun.
– One Single Barrel 12 Bore Rifle.
– Assorted ammunition and explosives.
3. Churachandpur District:
– During operations in Torbung Bazaar, security forces seized an Improvised Mortar (pumpi).
All recovered items have been promptly handed over to the Manipur police for thorough investigation and legal proceedings.
