Ukhrul, July 25: The Ukhrul District VDF Welfare Association and the Kamjong District VDF Welfare Association have jointly issued a fervent appeal to the Manipur State Government, urging them to reconsider and rescind a recent Cabinet decision regarding inter-district transfers and postings of VDF personnel, approved on July 12.
In a press release, Chipemmi Raising, President of the Ukhrul District VDF Welfare Association, and Secretary Wungrinshem Lungleng urged the government to reconsider this decision. They also expressed their support for any form of agitation initiated by the All Manipur VDF Employee Welfare Association.
A separate statement by MC. Thomba, President of the Kamjong District VDF Welfare Association, and Secretary AS. Ringchuingam highlighted the adverse impact of the Cabinet decision on VDF personnel who have served for 15 years in full-time duty. They emphasized the need for a considerable increase in the monthly honorarium and other basic entitlements before implementing any inter-district transfer and posting policies.
“Many VDF personnel have dependent families, and it is increasingly difficult to manage livelihood, family, and medical needs,” the statement read. “We request the State Government to prioritize and address our long-standing demands before proceeding with the transfers.”
The associations warned that if their appeals are ignored, they would support the Central Committee of the All Manipur VDF Employee Welfare Association in their efforts to address these issues.
