Lovlina Borgohain’s run at the Paris 2024 Olympics came to an end on August 4 when she lost 1-4 to top-seeded Li Qian in the women’s 75kg quarter-finals on Sunday. This defeat concluded India’s boxing efforts at the Games, following Nishant Dev’s elimination from the men’s 71kg quarter-finals the day before.
Borgohain, a prominent medal hopeful, was overpowered by Li Qian, a two-time Olympic medalist and former world champion, who asserted her dominance early on. With Borgohain and Dev both out, India’s boxing team, which also included Amit Panghal, Nikhat Zareen, Jaismine Lamboria, and Preeti Pawar, failed to secure any medals, marking a disappointing performance for Indian boxing in Paris.

Winning medals is not all about Olympic, it is how athletes show discipline and commitment to the game spirit. Better luck next time, Lovlina Borgohain
