Imphal: Manipur held a formal farewell for its outgoing Governor, Anusuiya Uikey, today at Raj Bhavan. The ceremony saw the attendance of Special Chief Secretary M.H. Khan, Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Ashutosh Sinha, and other senior civil and police officials. A general salute was performed by Manipur Rifles and IRB personnel in her honor.
Earlier today, a farewell function at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan allowed officers, staff, and security personnel to extend their well-wishes to Uikey.
Secretary to the Governor, Bobby Waikhom, praised Uikey for her role in restoring peace and normalcy following recent ethnic conflicts and for her contributions to the development of Raj Bhavan and the welfare of its employees.
In her farewell speech, Uikey acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and other officials in managing the unrest and promoting harmony among Manipur’s ethnic communities. She also expressed appreciation for the central security forces’ tireless work in assisting and relocating those affected by the violence.
Reflecting on her visits to relief camps, Uikey, visibly emotional, expressed sympathy for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and hoped for their safe return to their homes. She committed to continuing her advocacy for resolving the crisis even after her departure from the state. Uikey also recognized the dedication of Raj Bhavan’s officers and staff, encouraging them to persist in their diligent work.
