New Delhi: For Independence Day on August 15, the Red Fort will see the introduction of advanced artificial intelligence-based security measures.
The upgraded security system will deploy CCTVs equipped with video analytics at crucial points throughout the venue. This system will include features such as vehicle number plate recognition, facial recognition, crowd counting, tripwire detection, audio alerts, and monitoring for abandoned or missing items.
AI-enhanced cameras will track and estimate crowd sizes in real-time by monitoring the number of people entering and leaving the area. A new facial recognition system will compare live and recorded footage against watchlists to identify individuals.
Additionally, a continuous number plate recognition system will process video footage to capture vehicle license plates around the clock.
The Delhi police will also set up over 700 CCTVs and more than 150 advanced video analytics cameras. Despite these technological upgrades, human security personnel will still be crucial. Over 10,000 security staff, including Delhi police and paramilitary forces, will be deployed at the Red Fort and other key sites in central and north Delhi to ensure comprehensive safety during the event.
