Imphal, Aug 10: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh took part in the “Tiranga Concert,” an event organized by the Department of Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The concert was held at the Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace Compound, Imphal.
During his speech, Singh urged residents to help clean the statues of freedom fighters and pay floral tributes to honor their sacrifices. He also called on Ministers and MLAs to organize Independence Day lunches at relief camps and to address the concerns of the inmates personally.
Singh highlighted that national pride and patriotism have grown since Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, praising him for advancing Yoga globally and successfully hosting G20 events, which boosted national unity.
The Chief Minister noted that the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has strengthened nationalism and unity. He directed the Director General of Police to hold a major motorbike rally on August 15 and urging public participation in related events like rallies, street plays, and marathons.
Singh commended educational institutions for fostering unity and nationalism through their morning assemblies with the National Anthem and State song. The event featured performances such as Pung Cholom by artists from the Manipur University of Culture, patriotic songs by the Shri Shri Bal Mukund Dev Music College, and a dance set to the Tiranga Anthem by the Government Dance College.
Dignitaries in attendance included Minister of Works Govindas Konthoujam, Minister for Water Resources Awangbow Newmai, Minister for IPR Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, Minister for CAF&PD Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, Minister for Veterinary Khashim Vashum, MLAs, DGP Rajiv Singh, Administrative Secretaries, officials from the Art and Culture Department, and prominent state artists.
