Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reiterated his plea for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the violence-stricken state of Manipur. This call comes after Gandhi met with Manipuri people living in Delhi, who recounted their distressing experiences since the outbreak of ethnic clashes.
In a statement on X, Gandhi revealed the deep emotional impact of the conflict on the Manipuri community, many of whom requested anonymity due to safety concerns. He noted their stories of separation from family, physical and mental strain, and difficulties in accessing aid.
Gandhi emphasized the urgent need for intervention, stating, “As we mark Independence Day, we must recognize the harsh reality faced by Manipur, where true freedom remains out of reach.” He called on both the Central and State governments to expedite efforts towards a peaceful resolution.
This meeting followed Gandhi’s attendance at the 78th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. The Manipuri residents expressed a hopeful vision for peace, likening Manipur’s diversity to a “mini-India” and yearning for a resolution that allows for coexistence.
Modi is scared to face real problems.
