Churachandpur: The residence and shop of Michael Lamjathang Haokip, a Thadou community leader and BJP spokesperson, were set on fire by unidentified individuals in Peniel village, Churachandpur on Saturday. This marks the third arson attack on the home of Haokip’s parents, raising serious concerns about the safety of local leaders.
In response, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh issued a strong condemnation of the incident, taking to social media platform X to express his outrage. “Such acts of provocation will not be tolerated. We will ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” he asserted, indicating a strict response to the ongoing violence.
Singh also criticized the failure of security measures, revealing that there had been warnings about potential threats that were not adequately addressed. He also indicated that action would be taken against the officials responsible for this security lapse. “Moreover, action will be taken against the concerned officials who failed to provide adequate security, despite prior warnings of potential threats,” the Chief Minister added.
