Kangpokpi: The Kuki Students’ Organisation Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the conduct of the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) at Tumnoupokpi Village in Kangpokpi District during a peaceful rally held on Saturday.
In a statement released by KSO-SH, they mentioned that on August 30, they had informed the SDSA about their plan to hold a peaceful rally the next day. The SDSA reportedly acknowledged KSO’s cooperative intentions. However, the SDSA unexpectedly issued a late-night press release on August 30, asking KSO-SH not to hold the rally in areas they claimed were under SDSA jurisdiction.
KSO-SH expressed surprise and confusion over the SDSA’s assertion of jurisdiction in Kangpokpi District, given that the SDSA operates in Senapati District. Despite this, and in the interest of peaceful coexistence, KSO-SH ensured that no slogans were chanted while passing through Naga villages during the rally.
Despite the brotherly approach extended by KSO-SH toward the SDSA leadership, it was unfortunate that SDSA leaders physically blocked the National Highway at Tumnaopokpi Village, preventing the peaceful rally from proceeding. Although the participants expressed their frustration, KSO-SH maintained peace and ensured the rally continued without violence.
KSO-SH also expressed concerns regarding the SDSA’s neutrality in the ongoing Kuki-Meitei conflict, suggesting that the SDSA’s actions often seem to align with the policies of Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. Despite these concerns, KSO-SH expressed hope for continued peaceful coexistence and a deeper understanding from their Naga neighbors. They reiterated their commitment to peace, citing their shared faith as a foundation for unity.
The statement concluded with a prayer from KSO-SH for peace and blessings upon the SDSA.
