Tamenglong: Chief Justice Siddharth Mridul of the Manipur High Court on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the newly constructed district court building in Tamenglong via video conferencing, an event necessitated by unpredictable weather conditions. The new facility is seen as a key improvement for the judicial system in the area.
The ceremony in Imphal was graced by several dignitaries, including Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Th. Basanta Kumar Singh, Law Commissioner Nungshitombi Athokpam, Manipur High Court Registrar General Ojesh Mutum, and High Court judges A. Bimol Singh, A. Guneshwar Sharma, Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui, and Lenin Singh Hijam, along with local MLA Janghemlung Panmei.
Meanwhile, at the Tamenglong court site, ADM Chunglenmang unveiled the inauguration plaque in the presence of District and Sessions Judge Letkho Kipgen, Superintendent of Police Lanmiyo Luikham, SDO Tamenglong HL Christian Home, SDO Tousem Paul Nangsha, ADC Caretaker Namsinrei Panmei, ADC Chief Executive Officer Kachamthai Faiga Gangmei, and other district officers.
Addressing the occasion, Minister Th. Basanta Kumar Singh acknowledged the delays in construction, which began with the laying of the foundation stone on February 12, 2015, due to funding issues. The court building was ultimately completed with a revised budget of ₹31.8 crores.
The new district court in Tamenglong is expected to significantly improve the region’s judicial infrastructure, providing a state-of-the-art venue for legal proceedings.
