Imphal: A coordinated operation by State and Central security forces in the vulnerable and fringe areas of Manipur’s hill and valley districts led to the recovery of a significant stockpile of arms, ammunition, and warlike materials in Kangpokpi District on Tuesday.
At Mark Hill in Kangpokpi District, the forces uncovered a variety of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle with a magazine, an HK-33 rifle with a magazine, a triple barrel rifle, a .22 rifle, a bolt action rifle, and a 12-inch single bore barrel rifle. They also found an HE-36 hand grenade, a Motorola radio set, 10 live rounds of ammunition, 75 spent cartridges, and a broken INSAS rifle magazine. Other items recovered included a machete, three bulletproof jackets, black cloths, blankets, a jungle shoe, backpack bags, a black rain cape, and a combat coat.
In a separate operation in Haraothel, also in Kangpokpi District, the team discovered two unexploded 2-inch Mortar HE bombs, which were safely secured.
The seized weapons and warlike materials have been handed over to the Kangpokpi District Police Station for further legal proceedings.
