Senapati, Sept 15: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) conducted its 3rd Federal Assembly at Emesiiphro Village on Saturday, hosted by the Mao Students’ Union, in preparation for its upcoming election.
Dominic Azuna from PNTM was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner, with Heutwalung James Hau from ZSU-Senapati Zone and YK Jeremiah from TAJ serving as election committee members. The election is scheduled to take place on or before October 1, 2024 for the tenure 2024-2026.
During the assembly, the house reviewed discussions from the 2nd Federal Assembly and deliberated on various pressing issues. Key topics included the influx of immigrant workers and the strict monitoring of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
The delegates also raised concerns about ongoing and unfinished projects, such as the IIT project and the Polytechnical Institute, as well as infrastructural issues like the district’s drainage system and encroachments by individuals along riversides and roadsides.
During the discussuon, the SDSA also reaffirmed its support for the Indo-Naga political cause. Additionally, the house advocated for DBC Maram to be considered for university status, with an eye toward improving educational opportunities for the future youth of the district. The discussions reflected SDSA’s commitment to addressing social and developmental challenges in the region while empowering the student community.
