Saitual: In a major operation, Mizoram’s Saitual district police apprehended a Myanmar national on September 13 for carrying heroin valued at ₹17.76 lakhs. The arrest occurred during a routine vehicle check at Keifang Dawrkawn, where the police stopped a Sumo vehicle (registration number MZ01L-2167) traveling from Champhai to Aizawl.
During the inspection, officers found 592.57 grams of heroin hidden in 50 soap cases. The drugs were in the possession of Ni Dun Lian, a 41-year-old from Ngailan Village, Myanmar, who was a passenger in the vehicle.
A case has been filed under Saitual Police Station Case No. 47/2024, citing Section 21(C) of the NDPS Act and Section 14 of the Foreigner Act. Authorities are currently investigating the broader drug trafficking network.
