Imphal, Sept 20: Manipur CAF&PD Minister L. Susindro’s personal assistant, Sarangthem Somarendro, was abducted by unknown assailants near his home in Imphal East district this morning around 8:30 AM while he was leaving for his official duties.
The motive for the kidnapping and the identity of the perpetrators are still unknown, police said.
On Thursday evening, around 8:30 PM, armed individuals fired multiple shots at the residence of former Chief Secretary Oinam Nabakishore in Bishnupur district. Although the gunfire caused some property damage, no injuries were reported.
Police investigating the shooting discovered about five empty shell casings, which are suspected to be from 9mm ammunition. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. A case has been registered at the Bishnupur police station.
