Imphal, Sept 21: In a series of search operations carried out in the vulnerable areas of Churachandpur district, Manipur, security forces recovered a substantial stockpile of weapons and explosives. The seized items include an improvised rocket shell, three live rocket heads of different sizes, three improvised mortar devices (locally called “pumpi”), three anti-riot stun shells, and a stun grenade.
The operations, which focused on securing both hill and valley districts, were part of ongoing efforts to address the security challenges in the region and prevent the circulation of dangerous materials. Authorities emphasized that these actions are crucial for maintaining peace in sensitive areas.
In addition to the weapons haul, authorities ensured the safe movement of 176 and 224 vehicles transporting essential goods along National Highways NH-37 and NH-2. Security convoys were provided to escort vehicles through high-risk zones.
The police report also noted the establishment of 109 checkpoints (Nakas) across various districts in both hills and valleys. No arrests were made during the operations, and law enforcement continues to strengthen security measures across the region.
