Guwahati, Sept 24: Assam Police, working in tandem with the Border Security Force (BSF), have successfully prevented two attempts by Bangladeshi nationals to illegally enter India, resulting in the deportation of seven individuals over the last two days.
On September 23, three Bangladeshi nationals—Anowar Hussain, Nashrin Sheikh, and Babil Shaikh—were apprehended along the international border and sent back to Bangladesh.
This incident follows an earlier operation on September 22, where four other Bangladeshis—Sohil Hawladar, Shah Alam, Sourab Hawladar, and Md Kawsar—were intercepted while attempting to cross the Karimganj border. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police for their effective handling of these cases.
These recent operations have brought the total number of Bangladeshi nationals intercepted in Assam to 72 since political unrest in Bangladesh began. Since January, Assam Police have deported about 45 illegal immigrants, primarily from Karimganj, with additional cases reported in Bongaigaon, Dhubri, and Haflong.
