Kangpokpi, Sept 26: In a strong rebuttal to claims of an influx of 900 Kuki militants into Manipur, the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) organized a large protest rally on Thursday. The rally, which saw hundreds of participants, began at Nute Kailhang and concluded at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Protesters held banners and voiced their opposition to what they described as unfounded accusations targeting the Kuki community.
During the event, COTU leaders condemned the allegations as an attempt to provoke discord and disrupt peace in the region. They urged the government to investigate the origins of these claims and bring those responsible to justice.
As part of the protest, COTU announced a complete shutdown of the district on September 27 and 28, calling for tribal unity and urging peaceful solidarity.
The rally remained peaceful, with participants highlighting the need for justice and cohesion within the tribal community.
