Mumbai, Sept 27:   A mumbai lawyer, Amit Vyas, founder of Vertices Partners, has filed a criminal complaint against BookMyShow and Live Nation Entertainment, accusing them of a large-scale ticketing scam related to the Coldplay concert scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21, 2025. The three-day event is set to take place at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Vyas, representing frustrated Coldplay fans, lodged the complaint with Mumbai’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW). He alleges that the ticketing platforms engaged in unethical practices that prevented genuine fans from buying tickets during the official sale, which began at 12 PM on September 22.

The complaint claims that the platforms manipulated the ticketing process by logging out or blocking legitimate users, allowing bots and resellers to dominate the sales. It also accuses BookMyShow of listing tickets as sold out before they appeared on resale sites like Viagogo at significantly inflated prices—up to 50 times the original cost. This has raised concerns about potential collusion between the ticketing platforms and resellers.

Vyas demands an explanation from BookMyShow and Live Nation for allegedly diverting tickets to the black market. He also alleges that high-level decision-makers at these companies were involved in the scam.

Vyas has requested that an FIR be filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including organized crime and cheating. Additionally, he plans to file a public interest litigation (PIL) petition to address the broader issues at stake.
