Senapati, Sept 28: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Nagaland police have busted a major inter-state drug smuggling operation, arresting four individuals and seizing 2.9 kilograms of contraband drugs valued at approximately Rs 20.95 crore in international markets. The operation, which also led to the impounding of three vehicles used for drug transportation, was reported by officials on Saturday.
The drug trafficking network was operating between Manipur and Karnataka, with drugs being smuggled by air. Nagaland police provided critical intelligence and assistance to Karnataka authorities, leading to the interception of large quantities of illegal substances and the arrest of key smugglers. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Nagaland Director General of Police praised the successful collaboration between the two states.
In another major breakthrough, Nagaland police, acting on a request from West Bengal authorities, apprehended a notorious trafficker involved in multiple drug trafficking cases. The trafficker had been smuggling Yaba and “World is Yours” tablets from Nagaland to various locations in West Bengal.
A total of four cases have been registered against the arrested smugglers. Three cases were filed at Khuzama police station against three individuals from Manipur, who were found in possession of 17,179 tablets valued at approximately Rs 68.71 lakh. Another case was lodged at Medziphema police station, where a lone smuggler was apprehended with 1.202 kilograms of heroin, worth Rs 8.41 crore in the international market.
