JAMMU, Sept 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday that, for the first time, the BJP will form a government in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) with a full majority following the upcoming Assembly elections. Speaking at a large campaign rally at M. A. Stadium, Modi expressed his patriotic feelings, referencing prominent historical figures from the region, including Maharaja Hari Singh and Martyr Bhagat Singh, whose birth anniversary coincided with the event.
During his fourth campaign visit to the Union Territory, Modi stated, “People of J&K are tired of the three families of NC, PDP, and Congress. They want peace and a better future for their children, which is why they desire a BJP government.” He emphasized that the significant voter turnout in previous election phases indicates strong support for the BJP.
Highlighting the opportunity for the people of Jammu to choose their own government, Modi remarked, “This is the city of temples; do not let go of this chance.” He acknowledged the historical discrimination faced by Jammu and assured that the BJP would address these issues.
Modi also noted that the results will be announced on October 8, coinciding with Vijay Dashami on October 12, which he termed a day of potential success for the BJP. He rallied support with the slogan, “Jammu Ki Yahi Pukar, Aye Rahi Hai Bajpa Sarkar.”
All 24 BJP candidates from Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Udhampur districts, where voting is set for October 1, were present at the rally. Modi raised their hands in a gesture of victory anticipation and urged voters to support BJP candidates in the upcoming legislative elections. Voting for the third phase will take place on October 1, with counting scheduled for October 8.
