Imphal, Sept 29:   Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday held an urgent meeting with all Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from both the ruling and opposition parties to address the escalating tensions in the state, particularly regarding the recent abduction of two youths allegedly by Kuki militants. This incident has sparked widespread outrage among the public.

Taking to X, CM N Biren Singh wrote, “Held a meeting with all the MLAs at the Secretariat today. Addressed the current situation in the state, particularly focusing on the rescue of two innocent youths abducted by Kuki militants. We condemn such heinous acts, and our government is working to ensure the safe release of the victims.”

Earlier in the day, a troubling video emerged on social media showing the two abducted youths pleading for help from the Chief Minister. In the video, they requested the government to treat them “as sons” and called for urgent action to address the demands of their captors.

The incident began on September 27, when three youths went missing around 3 p.m. while on their way to New Keithelmanbi for an SSC GD recruitment test. After losing contact with them, their families initiated a search. One of the missing individuals, Ningombam Johnson Singh, son of N. Sanjoy from Thoubal Khekman Maning Leikai, was rescued by Army personnel at Leimakhong and handed over to the Imphal West Police, bringing some relief to his family.

However, the other two youths—Oinam Thoithoi Singh from Thoubal Leishangthem Awang Leikai and Thokchom Thoithoiba Singh from Thoubal Khekman Wangmataba Mayai Leikai—remain missing. As their families grow increasingly desperate, the video has intensified their distress, showing the two hostages allegedly held by Kuki militants, who appear to be using the footage to leverage their demands
