NEW DELHI, Oct 1: The central government has sanctioned Rs 675 crore in financial aid to assist Gujarat, Manipur, and Tripura, which have been severely affected by heavy rains, floods, and landslides during the Southwest Monsoon. The funds are being released from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
Of the total amount, Gujarat will receive Rs 600 crore, Manipur Rs 50 crore, and Tripura Rs 25 crore. Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) will be sent to these states to assess the damage, with similar teams also scheduled to visit Bihar and West Bengal, which have also suffered from recent flooding.
This year, the central government has already allocated Rs 9,044.80 crore from the SDRF to 21 states and Rs 4,528.66 crore from the NDRF to 15 states to address widespread monsoon damage. States like Assam, Mizoram, and Andhra Pradesh have also been impacted by extreme weather conditions.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah leading the efforts, the government is dedicated to providing necessary relief, including deploying National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and military support. Further financial assistance will be considered after IMCTs complete their assessments.
