Asufü FA Advances to Final of 24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy

KOHIMA, October 3:   Asufü Football Academy (FA) today secured its place in the finals of the 24th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy, organized by the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima, under the theme “Goal for Peace.”

In an exciting second semi-final match, Asufü FA, representing Manipur, defeated Circle FC Chedema from Kohima with a score of 2-1 in extra time. Asufü FA took an early lead in the 17th minute with a goal from Bijoy Moktan, but Circle FC Chedema equalized in the 29th minute through V S Zimik.

Despite facing a challenge when Asufü FA’s Korouhanba Laishram received a red card just before halftime, leaving them with ten players, the team managed to hold on. The turning point came in the 104th minute when P. Sorormi Thinsang scored the winning goal, securing Asufü FA’s spot in the final.

Circle FC Chedema’s players Toka Achumi, Kipgen Thong, and Seilenlal Daniel were issued yellow cards during the match. Neingutoulie Kengurüse, Councillor of Ward 2 of Dimapur Municipal Council, awarded the man of the match to Gachiiwo S Tara of Asufü FA.

The final match will take place on October 5, between Asufü FA and Sechü Zubza FC at 1 PM.
