IMPHAL, Oct 7: Chief Minister N Biren Singh today held an interaction with youths trained under the ‘Hunar Se Rozgar Scheme’ in hospitality and perfumery at Hindu College, Delhi. The event, hosted at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, was co-organized by the Tourism Department and the Textiles, Commerce, and Industries Department of Manipur.
Under the Ministry of Tourism’s Hunar Se Rozgar Scheme, approximately 400 youths have either completed or are undergoing training, with 169 securing jobs in key cities. Of these, 78 are from the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) category. Additionally, 30 youths, including 15 IDPs, completed a three-week perfumery training program in Delhi.
During the session, participants shared their experiences and praised the government’s efforts. CM Singh commended district officials for their commitment to youth training and described the interaction as a hopeful step towards the state’s recovery after a prolonged crisis.
The CM emphasized the need for unity and resilience, urging citizens to focus on peace and reconciliation. He also announced financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 for those trained in perfumery, with additional support available through initiatives like the ‘One Family One Livelihood’ scheme.
Further, the government will provide Rs. 5,000 as a one-time settlement allowance for youths employed in other cities. A special flight will be arranged for them, and the Chief Minister plans to personally see them off at the airport.
CM Singh also highlighted the importance of staying informed about welfare schemes and urged the youth to actively seek knowledge. He expressed his desire to extend training programs to all districts, especially for those in relief camps, and called for peaceful resolutions to ongoing challenges.
The event was attended by ministers, MLAs, senior officials, and Deputy Commissioners, with virtual participation from other district representatives who spoke about livelihood programs in their respective regions.
