IMPHAL, Oct 11: Manipur Police on Thursday apprehended a cadre of the KCP(PWG) organization, identified as Mayanglambam Dhanbir, 39, who is also known by aliases Dhanabir, Awangba, and Lanchenba.
According to Police report, he was arrested at his home in Kyamgei Maning Leikai, Imphal East District, for his involvement in extorting money from various shops and general public residing in and around Imphal area.
Additionally to enhance security, search operations and area dominance initiatives were conducted by security forces in the hill and valley districts. During these operations, a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered in the foothill areas along the IVR road, situated between Aigejang village and Uyok in Bishnupur District.
Among the items seized were a CMG (Close-Medium Gun), a tear gas gun, a 9mm pistol with a magazine, and 14 live rounds of 9mm ammunition. Additionally, authorities seized a .303 sniper rifle, a Single Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) gun, and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing approximately 1.35 kg. The recovery also included three high-explosive hand grenades, two tear smoke grenades, a Baofeng radio set, two blank rounds, and five anti-riot rubber bullets.
Furthermore, the search yielded three 36-tube launching 1A devices, a tear smoke shell (50m), a tear smoke shell (chilli, 135m), and a tear smoke shell (CS). Authorities also recovered two white phosphorus grenades, two wood piercing shells, a 36 grenade arming ring, a normal tear smoke shell, a soft nose tear smoke shell, and a dye marker grenade intended for anti-riot purposes.
The recovered items have been handed to Police Station for further legal proceedings.
