New Delhi, Oct 11: The tripartite talks between the Government of India, the Government of Manipur, and the United Naga Council (UNC) concluded without reaching a definitive agreement today in New Delhi. Although no consensus was achieved, all parties agreed to continue discussions to “resolve the issue in a time-bound manner.”
The discussions focused on the establishment of the seven new districts by the Manipur government on December 8, 2016, and the UNC’s demand for their retraction. The meeting proceeded in a cordial atmosphere, with a shared commitment to continued discussions to address concerns in a timely manner, aligning with previous agreements.
The next meeting is scheduled for November 15 in Senapati, Manipur, according to official sources.
The meeting was attended by A.K. Mishra, Advisor(Northeast), Ministry of Home Affairs, and Vineet Joshi and N. Ashok Kumar from the Manipur Government, joined by seven UNC representatives.
