NEW DELHI, Oct 30: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh initiated a two-day trip to Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday, where he plans to meet with Armed Forces personnel stationed in the Tawang sector. Accompanied by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Singh departed for Tawang early in the morning.
“Leaving New Delhi for Tawang on a two day visit to Arunachal Pradesh. Looking forward to interact with Armed Forces personnel and attend the inaugural ceremony of a museum dedicated to brave Indian Army officer Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing,” Rajnath Singh posted on X.
The Arunachal Chief Minister welcomed Singh on X, stating, “I on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh heartily welcome Hon Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh ji on the pious land of dawn-lit mountains. The inauguration of Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing Museum of Valour and unveiling of Desh Ka Vallabh, the statue of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Tawang, by him in the august presence of Hon’ble Manipur CM Shri @NBirenSingh ji and other dignitaries will be cherished by us for ages to come.”
Additionally, the Chief Minister praised Major Khathing’s “heroic deed” in leading an expedition in February 1951 to establish Indian administration in Tawang, stating that Khathing’s contributions are unparalleled in human history. He also recognized Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s significant role as India’s first Home Minister, stating, “What ‘Iron Man’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel did as India’s first Home Minister by integrating several princely states into the country leaves us forever indebted to him.”
