SENAPATI, Oct 31: In a decisive move to reinforce local wildlife protection laws, three youths from Willong and Shangkhumai village have been apprehended yesterday for illegal hunting within the restricted zone in Yangkhullen jurisdiction.
The apprehended individuals, identified as Mr Lungbiba Western (son of Rangdou) of Willong Khullen, Rouba Jonah (son of Pousiba) of Sangkunglung village, and David Appiax (son of Bing) of Willong Khullen village were reportedly caught by Zeme youths and student organisations. The trio arrived in an Eeco van bearing registration NL 01H8301, which, along with their weapons, has been confiscated by the vigilant youth forces.
“This is not the first violation by outsiders,” stated one of the youth leaders. “Our norms have been repeatedly breached, and it’s deeply disrespectful to our community. Even our own villagers are not permitted to hunt beyond this protected zone. Anyone violating these rules, be it locals or outsiders, must face the consequences. A hefty fine will be imposed to set a firm example.”
The local community has issued a strong warning against any further encroachment upon their protected zones, stressing that all violators will face strict penalties to uphold the sanctity of their environmental and cultural heritage.
