NEW DELHI, Nov 5: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has officially indicated its interest in hosting the 2036 Olympic Games by submitting a bid to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This move is seen as a significant step towards India potentially hosting the world’s largest sporting event for the first time.
On October 1, the IOA submitted its Letter of Intent to the IOC’s Future Host Commission, underlining its aspiration to organize both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. If selected, India would not only host the Olympics but also showcase its ability to manage such a large-scale event.
This announcement comes after the IOC confirmed that Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics and Brisbane will host the 2032 Games. According to IOC President Thomas Bach, more than 10 cities have expressed their intent to host future Olympic events, indicating widespread global interest in the Games.
India’s bid is viewed as a promising development for the nation’s sports sector, showcasing its capability to organize major international events and encouraging sports growth across various levels. A successful bid could herald a new era for sports in India, promoting unity and competition on a worldwide platform.
