IMPHAL, Dec 6: In a significant operation, a joint team of Manipur Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) apprehended three cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-PWG) from Phayeng in Imphal West District on Thursday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Laishram Kenjit Singh (36), Md Abdul Matalif (37), and Laishram Langamba Meitei (28). During the operation, a country-made 9mm pistol along with four live rounds was recovered from their possession.
Further investigation led the security forces to their hideout in Kangchup, where a search unearthed incriminating items, including demand letters and equipment used for manufacturing illegal arms.
Authorities revealed that the arrested cadres were actively involved in extortion activities, targeting individuals and businesses in the region.
