IMPHAL, Dec 11: In a coordinated effort a combined team of the Manipur Police, Forest Department, and BSF personnel, led by SDPO Ukhrul and accompanied by an Executive Magistrate on December 10, carried out a poppy destruction operation at the Mapithel Hill range under Phungyar Sub-Division, within the jurisdiction of Litan Police Station, Ukhrul district.

During the operation, approximately 45 acres of poppy plantations were destroyed. Authorities also arrested two individuals identified as Letkhohao Haokip (37) and Hegou Khongsai (30) from the fields. An FIR has been registered for further investigation into the case.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted search operations and area domination exercises across vulnerable and fringe areas of both hill and valley districts. These efforts led to the recovery of several arms and ammunition from Tingkai Khullen in Kangpokpi district. The items seized were a 9 mm CMG with a magazine, a Single Bolt Sniper Rifle, a 9 mm Pistol with a magazine, a No. 36 Hand Grenade, two Tube Launchers, two rounds of 9 mm live ammunition, and a Radio Set.
