IMPHAL, Dec 13: The Manipur government has collected a total of Rs 13.3 crore in state revenue from the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system over the past five years. This revenue was generated from issuing ILPs to over 9.7 lakh individuals who entered the state between January 1, 2020, and December 9, 2024.
The ILP permits were issued both online and offline by state authorities, with five ILP offices set up at various locations, including the Jiribam and Mao gates, which border Assam and Nagaland.
The ILP system was introduced in Manipur on January 1, 2020, making it the fourth state in India, following Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Mizoram, to implement this regime. The ILP is an official travel document required for Indian citizens wishing to visit the states under the ILP regime, including Manipur, for a specific period.
Under the ILP system, individuals from outside the state must obtain permission before traveling to these regions. However, the ILP guidelines do not apply to foreigners, who are required to register with the Foreigner Registration Office (FRO) upon arrival in the state.
